Prof. Alberto Salleo | asalleo@

Professor Salleo recieved his Laurea degree in Chemistry from the University of Rome (Italy) in 1994. He received his M.S. (1998) and Ph.D. (2001) in Materials Science from UC Berkeley investigating optical breakdown in fused silica. He spent 5 years at the Palo Alto Research Center as a postdoc and then a member of the research staff in the Electronic Materials Laboratory before joining the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University in 2005.

Postdoctoral Scholars

Dr. Adam Marks | adammarks@

Adam joined the Salleo group in fall of 2021 as a postdoctoral scholar. He received his M.Sc. degree in Chemistry from Imperial College London in 2016. Following this he joined Prof. Iain McCulloch’s group, completing his Ph.D. in 2020, synthesising OMIEC materials for bioelectronic applications. He then followed the McCulloch group to the University of Oxford, where he was a postdoctoral research associate, focusing on the development of electron transport OMIECs for high performance OECT and thermoelectric devices. He is now a postdoctoral scholar with Prof. Alberto Salleo and Prof. William Chueh at Stanford University. His current research interests are focused on the synthetic development and evaluation of materials for polymeric electrocatalysis. Outside of the lab he enjoys weightlifting and watching sports.

Dr. Gerwin Dijk | gdijk@

After his M.S. in Applied Physics, Gerwin joined ASML where he worked on the development of EUV photolithography systems. He switched careers and received his PhD in Microelectronics for his work on organic bioelectronic devices for cancer treatment with electrical stimulation (Écoles des Mines, France). He joined the Salleo group in the fall of 2021 where he explores polymers for biosensor applications. Gerwin tries to balance life. He is an active person, likes biking, hiking and exploring California, but also enjoys to sit down, talk, drink coffee and read about history.

Dr. Nicholas Siemons | nsiemons@

Following his M.S from University College London, Nicholas received his Ph.D. from Imperial College in Prof. Jenny Nelson’s group where his work focused on atomistic simulations of polymer systems such as Molecular Dynamics, Density Functional Theory, Molecular Metadynamics, and Network Analysis. Nicholas joined the Salleo group in Summer 2023 and is working on electrocatalysis.

Dr. Ana De La Fuente Durán | adelafuente@

Ana graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2020. As a Ph.D. Student, Ana is co-advised by Prof. Alberto Salleo and Prof. William Chueh where she studies organic mixed ionic electronic materials for their use in electrocatalysis. Outside of work, she spends her time reading, playing video games with her brothers, and taking care of plants.

Dr. Qilun Zhang | qilunz@

Qilun completed his PhD in Applied Physics at Linköping University, Sweden. During his PhD, he focused on understanding interfacial phenomena in organic solar cells using photoelectron spectroscopy, while also exploring wood-based materials like lignin for sustainable material applications. In Winter 2024, he joined Salleo group at Stanford University as a postdoctoral scholar, working on the structural study of organic semiconductors and wood-based composites. Outside of the lab, he enjoys novels, fishing, and video games.

Dr. Fabia Farlin Athena | fathena@

Fabia Farlin Athena is a Stanford Energy Postdoctoral Fellow, studying emerging memory and logic technologies using oxide semiconductors and low dimensional materials for energy-efficient AI, co-advised by Prof. Alberto Salleo and Prof. H.-S. Philip Wong. She obtained her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech, advised by Prof. Eric M. Vogel. Her PhD research focused on adaptive oxide-based brain-inspired analog and in-memory computing devices. Outside of research, she enjoys hiking and documentaries.

Dr. Timothy Ng | sienng@

Timothy received his B.Eng and PhD from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He joined the Salleo group as a postdoc in 2025. His research focuses on designing micro-circuits based on organic semiconductors to emulate the biological neurons. Outside of the lab, he is watching the NBA, MLB and tennis. Go Warriors!

Dr. Lucrezia Maini | lmaini@

Lucrezia received her PhD from ETH Zurich specializing in micro- and nanosystems in 2025. Her expertise includes microfabrication, ultrasound measurements, and Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations. In 2026, she started her postdoc in the Salleo’s group, under the joint co-supervision of Professor Guosong Hong, as a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Postdoctoral Fellow. During her postdoc, she will explore the integration of conductive polymers into new medical devices and biosensing applications. In her free time, she enjoys California nature and hiking with Dante, her miniature wire haired dachshund.

Graduate Students

Jeremy Treiber | jtreiber@

Jeremy graduated from UC San Diego in 2020 with a B.S. in NanoEngineering and Chemistry and is currently a Ph.D. student in Materials Science and Engineering. His current research focuses on biosensors utilizing organic mixed conductors. Outside of the lab, eremy enjoys playing with his dog, Iggy, finding good shows to watch, and exploring the Bay Area.

Kalee Rozylowicz | krozylow@

Kalee graduated from the Carnegie Melon University in 2021 with B.S. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. As a Ph.D. student at Stanford, Kalee researches organic neuromorphic devices and works to better understand the ionic liquid electrolyte that is used with these devices. Kalee enjoys visiting the capybaras at the Happy Hollow Park & Zoo and backpacking in California’s backcountry.

Yeongmin Park | yeongmin@

Yeongmin graduated from Yonsei University (in South Korea) in 2018 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. She then received an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University in 2022 focusing on materials for soft robots and sensors. Her current research interest is in neuromorphic devices. Outside of the lab she enjoys watching sports, playing video games, and tennis.

Alison Shad | alishad@

Alison is a PhD student in Chemistry who joined the Chueh + Salleo group in Fall 2023 after graduating from Colorado State University with a dual BS in Biomedical Engineering and Chemical & Biological Engineering. Her current research interests are focused on exploring the capabilities of polymeric materials for various applications. Outside of research, she enjoys traveling, spending time in nature, and hanging out with friends.

Ruth Arwani | rta02@

Ruth graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a B.Eng. in Materials Science and Engineering in 2023, and is a Ph.D. candidate in the same area at Stanford. Her current research interest is plastics upcycling and polymer characterization. Outside of the lab, she enjoys playing sports, listening to classical music, and traveling.

Mrinalni Iyer | iyermv@

Mrinalni graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Chemistry in 2024. As a Ph.D. student, she is co-advised by Prof. Alberto Salleo and Prof. William Chueh. Her current research interests are focused on polymeric materials and their applications in electrocatalysis. Outside of lab, she enjoys hiking, board games, and hockey.

Nicholas Marchese | njmarch@

Nicholas is a PhD student in Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University. He earned his BA in Materials Science at Northwestern University. During his time at Northwestern, he worked with Prof Sossina Haile on developing a simulation package for solar thermochemical hydrogen production. Currently, he is interested in polymer systems and using TEM to gain a better understanding of how their microstructure impacts various properties.

Jaden Cramlet | jadenjpt@

Jaden received his B.S. in NanoEngineering from UC San Diego and joined the Salleo Group in 2024 as Ph.D. student in Materials Science and Engineering. His research focuses on using electron microscopy techniques to elucidate structure-property relationships in organic mixed ion-electron conducting polymers. Outside research, Jaden enjoys cooking, visiting national parks, playing the trumpet, and playing video games with friends.
